Principal/Mission

Welcome to Mill Creek! 

My name is Jonathan Ferrell, and I have the honor of serving as the principal at Mill Creek Elementary. This is my fifth year at Mill Creek, and I am proud to work alongside such a dedicated staff and an amazing community of students and families.

I live in Overland Park with my wonderful wife, Kristen, who is a nurse practitioner. We have four amazing (and ornery) children: Annie, Max, Ruby, and Lucy. Our children attend Shawnee Mission West and Overland Park Elementary.  This is my 19th year in education. Prior to becoming a principal, I spent 11 years as a 6th grade teacher and also served as a library media specialist and instructional coach.

Mill Creek Elementary is truly a special place. Our staff is a committed group of professional educators who give their time, talent, and heart to our students every day. We are proud of our strong academic achievement and our welcoming school culture where every student belongs. We are grateful for the continued support of our families, community, and PTA.
